I tried a gyro for the first time last year, at the Panegyri Greek Festival.  Whole lot of meh.  It was lukewarm, it was dry, it was bland.  If I hadn't needed something to go with the large amount of wine I was drinking, I probably would have thrown it out.  Not a great introduction to the gyro, to be sure.

I'd heard good things about the gyros at Areti's, so we decided to check them out this past weekend while at Findlay Market.  Wow wow wow.  It was delicious!  A ton of meat, and it was juicy and flavorful.  The bread was grilled, and had that perfect soft/crispy ratio.  The sauce was great, had a good tanginess to it.  The tomatoes were red and juicy.  The gyro was huge, and only about $5.  It was delicious and messy and juicy.  I now know how a gyro is supposed to taste, and I can't wait to go back and try it again.
